Abstract

Big data has emerged as a critical asset for organizations due to the rapid growth of data generated from social media, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, business transactions, and digital services. Managing such massive volumes of data requires scalable, efficient, and reliable computing infrastructures. Cloud computing provides a flexible platform for storing, processing, and analyzing big data through distributed resources and on-demand services. This survey paper presents an overview of big data management in cloud environments, focusing on the key tools and techniques used for data storage, processing, analytics, and security. The study discusses widely adopted tools such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, HBase, and NoSQL databases, along with techniques including data mining, machine learning, predictive analytics, optimization methods, and text analytics. Furthermore, the paper highlights major challenges related to scalability, resource management, data privacy, and security in cloud-based big data systems. A comparative review of recent research works is also provided to identify current trends and future directions. The survey concludes that the integration of advanced analytics techniques with cloud computing can significantly improve the efficiency, reliability, and security of big data management.
